Travelling with a baby this Christmas and New Year? You might be taking to the road to introduce a new family member to distant friends and relatives. Florida auto insurance is a must at any time of year but more people may be on the road over the holidays, increasing the risk of bumps and scrapes to your car.

Driving safely can require extra concentration. You won’t want to be worrying about the baby as well so it’s well worth a few extra preparations. In fact, a young baby under 6 months may sometimes be less fussed by travel than an older child - and is not so mobile! Nevertheless you will want to be sure you have the correct car seat and that it is properly installed.

Your first aid kit might need to be revised to cover baby’s needs. Always take along any medication (even if baby rarely needs it).

Removable window screens will help protect baby from the sun. Sunscreen should always be available too and a hat to protect baby’s head where there is no sunshade.

It will save time when changing your baby if you pre-pack a series of entire outfits, each in its own bag, so you don’t have to dig through everything else to get the baby’s clothes together.

Remember that you might need to make more stops than usual and that you may be quite tired. Allow extra time for the journey, drive safely and stay alert, and you’ll have the best chance of staying safe and avoiding a collision claim on your Florida auto insurance this holiday season.
